Rhapsody joins the club in opening up its data
Adding to Paul Lamere's list of web services for music discovery (mentioned previously), Rhapsody has announced their new web services (via Mixed Content). This means that they're giving access to their music metadata and database to third-party programmers, so that the latter can build their own applications and services using them.
Like backstage.bbc.co.uk, Rhapsody is actively soliciting proposal for innovative services, and, as an incentive, they are running a contest for the best Rhapsody 'mashup'.
There is a pretty in depth review of the new Rhapsody web services on the Read/WriteWeb:

It's a good read...

Just a quibble, the web services are not new, they've been around for at least a few months ...

Thanks for the correction, Paul. I see now that you listed them before, but I missed them.
